Lisa has shared with us the new 2023 legal developments for California. They include:
- California’s new “Pay Transparency” law requires employers to provide pay scales to applicants and employees upon request and to include pay scales on job postings;
- SB1162 also expands the requirements for California employers with 100+ employees to submit annual pay data reports to the California Civil Rights Department;
- Amendments to the California Fair Employment and Housing Act add new categories protected from discrimination;
- California employers will need to update their family and medical leave, bereavement leave, and sick leave policies to comply with amendments to the California Family Rights Act;
- Employers will also need to review workplace conduct policies in light of the new NLRB decisions and likely upcoming changes;
- A number of new decisions on the enforceability of arbitration agreements will continue to raise questions for employers; and
- Of course, there are still a few COVID-19 updates, as the impacts of the pandemic will continue into 2023.
