2025 SoCal Hospitality Industry Benefits & Compensation Survey
- On 31 January 2025
- Posted by Chantal Mariotti
This year, a total of fifty-six (56) hotels participated in this survey, representing 19,060 guest rooms and a total of 17,933 employees.
We hope that our participants enjoyed the survey process, the ease of on-line forms, and the expediency and accuracy of the survey results. We are pleased to have been able to add “Zone VII” to the survey, separating Orange and San Diego counties to best mirror each properties’ market wages, as we had sufficient participants in all zones.
List of reports provided:
Survey results reports include the following:
- List of Survey Participants
- Benefits Summary – All hotels
- Exempt Summary – All hotels and Zones 1-7 – Luxury & Larger properties
- Hourly Summary – All hotels and Zones 1-7 – Luxury, Larger & Union properties
- Summary of Incentives – All hotels
The survey results have been broken down by overall hotel data, geographical areas; by luxury (self-identified) and larger hotels (500 rooms or greater). A separate “hourly union” report has been provided.
Thank you sincerely to all of our participants for completing all three survey forms – Exempt, Hourly and Benefits. By completing all of this information, our survey is now more comprehensive and valuable to all.
How the rates of pay are calculated
The rates shown in both the exempt and hourly reports are “averages”. For example, when you see a minimum rate of pay that is higher than the rate you submitted for that position, this means that you are paying lower than the “average low” of all participating hotels. Similarly, if the number you provided is higher than the maximum, then this means that you are paying a higher wage than the “average high” of all participants’ data, included in that position.
Zones
The geographical zones represent the following areas:
- Zone 1 Los Angeles Airport and Beach Cities
- Zone 2 Los Angeles West Side and Beverly Hills Areas
- Zone 3 Downtown Los Angeles, Valleys and Other LA County Areas
- Zone 4 Orange County
- Zone 5 Santa Barbara and Surrounding Areas
- Zone 6 Palm Springs and Desert Areas
- Zone 7 San Diego County
The information contained in all reports is extremely sensitive. Therefore, we ask to please take extra care in the reproduction, storage and use of these documents in a way that maintains confidentiality and protects all concerned.
