Beware of violence in the workplace. You never know when or how it will begin. Workplace conflict is not uncommon and issues can arise for a number of reasons. As an employer, it’s important to be aware of how your employees are interacting with one another and make sure that tension and hostility are not triggered or present.
Employers (leaders or managers) should never allow for employees to resolve conflict on their own. While employees may want to settle their issues amongst themselves, it’s important as a manager or employer to take charge and help settle the issue in a professional manner. By sitting your employees down and having a discussion with them, you allow both parties to open up and discuss the issues at hand.
Get involved and assist with the resolve – It is an HR best practice. It is the employer’s responsibility to create a safe and healthy working environment for their employees. If you notice problems at work, take an active approach and talk to your employees about it. By helping to resolve the issue, you can help them come to a resolution in a timely manner. Maintaining a safe environment for your employees not only improves employee relations and team work but also helps keep your staff productive and loyal to the company.
We conduct online assessment forms to determine the individual’s communication style; we run comparative data reports, showing the differences between both individuals. People handle conflicts differently, therefore it’s important to be aware of how your employees will discuss their workplace issues when and if a conflict arises. Online DiSC assessments help identify your employees’ communication styles; these assessments are a great tools to begin the conflict resolution process.
We have individual meetings with each party so they get to understand what THEIR style of communication is; then we bring parties together to resolve conflict while better understanding the other party. We understand that conflicts can arise at work, especially with individuals who communicate in different ways. Whether they’re assertive or passive, dominant or steady, we identify their communication style and conduct a respectful, courteous and structured meeting to resolve and find solutions to their conflict.
