Human Resources Audits – And Why They Are More Important Than Ever!

Would you rather not be safe than sorry? How can you know, what it is that you don’t know?
ECG was founded in 2003, over 17 years ago. We have conducted hundreds of human resources audits and to this day, I am still amazed at some of our findings. Employment laws have changed so much in the past five years that employee handbooks do not have the correct updated language; mandatory new hire forms are not utilized; mandatory on-boarding documentation is missing; in essence, providing employees with ammunition for potential lawsuits.
An HR audit is a vital component to help companies avoid legal and regulatory liability. Identifying areas of legal risk, our HR audits are designed to 1. Make sure that you are in compliance with the myriad of employment laws, and 2. To review and share with you, any and all HR “best practices”. Having sound policies and practices in place will help you defend yourself in the event of legal action. Once the audit is complete, the results provide you with a “road map” for changes and improvement.
The number of employees you have on staff will dictate the number of laws that apply to you. In general, HR audits should include the following sections: Policies & handbook review; employment, employee relations, training, compliance, new hire & termination procedures, LOA’s, COBRA, ADA, wage & hour/payroll practices, and workers compensation/Safety/OSHA,& IRCA to name a few.
In today’s “Covid-19” world, such audits can be done remotely, via both Zoom and Facetime if so desired…
