TIPS TRAINING for Hotels and Restaurant Employees

It’s the law – California bartenders must receive TIPS training. TIPS, also known as the Training for Intervention Procedures, is a training program that educates servers and bartenders on how to prevent intoxication and underage drinking at restaurants and/or bars. Through these programs, bartenders can learn how to be aware of alcohol-related problems and know how to respond during certain incidents.
Such training teaches servers and bartenders how to prevent underage drinking and abuse of alcohol in licensed establishments. Servers should take extra precautions when dealing with customers. Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol can hinder one’s ability to make sound judgments so it’s important for bartenders to know how to prevent underage drinking and alcohol abuse. By thoroughly checking customers’ IDs and utilizing effective skills, your bartenders can improve the services provided to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable in your establishment.
TIPS = Training for Intervention Procedures Certification is valid for three years and is transferable. Bartenders and servers only have to go through this certification program once every three years. Certification programs typically allow Individuals to either get sessions in a classroom setting or through an online training program. Certainly, face to face live training is much more effective.

We believe that in-person training sessions allow for great discussions and interactions. Online training, while useful, may not provide individuals with hands-on training techniques and thorough scenarios and examples.
