Give your new hires the tools and information they need to be successful in their new environment. New employees should be properly introduced to their new position and to the company. By providing them with useful information and resources, you ensure that they’re settled in much more quickly and efficiently. Starting at a new company with new surroundings and employees can be overwhelming for your new hire. Helping your new hires feel welcomed and providing them with an effective on-boarding experience will most likely translate into their success and less employee turnover in the long run.
Provide new hires with a comprehensive New Hire Orientation Program, covering the employee handbook, position description and all the information essential for their success. Take time to sit down with your new employee and make sure that they understand the company’s policies and procedures. Doing so can help both parties avoid any confusion later down the road. Just like a game; you cannot play well unless you know the rules. Same here – Make sure your employees are provided with all of the information they need to become an integral part of your team – set them up for success. The Employee Handbook is a key element of on-boarding, along with the proper new hire forms, tour of your company, and introductions to other team members.
Pair up your new hire with a seasoned employee. (The Buddy System) A great way to welcome a new employee is to have a seasoned employee show them the ropes. Oftentimes, new hires may feel shy or uncomfortable settling in, but this approach helps ease their way into the company and provides a warm introduction to the work environment and the rest of their team members. The buddy will make sure the new hire has someone to go to lunch with the first few days; knows where the coffee station is, where the best parking spaces are and any other information they may need to know.
We prepare New Hire Orientation on PowerPoint which you can use for all of your new hires moving forward. (We include your company mission, values and culture. The tool is personalized with your organizational chart; mission, vision and important topic highlights from your employee handbook.) We can create a visually engaging PowerPoint which simplifies the process of welcoming new hires to the company. With a custom orientation, you can make sure that all your new employees receive the same information, every time.
We can train someone at your company to conduct New Hire Orientation moving forward. It’s a good practice to have a trained employee who is able to conduct an orientation for new hires. Whether that’s an HR manager or a seasoned employee, we can provide them with a thorough train the trainer session so they know how the on-boarding process works; and can deliver the orientation session.
