Be aware of the new employment laws for next year. With the start of a new year, 2015 brings us a number of new employment laws, including: Mandatory Paid Sick Leave Law (effective July 1, 2015), wage & hour laws (e.g., protection for unpaid interns and volunteers), waiting time penalties and rest & recovery periods, workers compensation and unemployment insurance updates, just to name a few! The “key” is for you to remain in full compliance with the law and not get into trouble. This could result in fines and penalties, and take money away from your bottom line.
How can you find out about these requirements? If you have a labor attorney, that would be the ideal place to start. If not, please give us a call at (818) 845-5584; we work with a number of excellent employment attorneys and will be happy to refer one to you. Another option is to do research on your own and find out exactly what it is that you need to know and do. A great website to visit for all of these answers is www.HRCalifornia.com. Depending upon the topic that you’re researching, you may need to become a member of HR California. In any event, we’re here to help you find all of the answers to your questions!
Be in compliance for 2015 – Now would be a great time to update your 2015 Employee Handbook!
